Summary: Air Europa resumes its direct flights to Caracas on September 1, a route that strengthens the Dominican Republic's air connectivity with Venezuela.

## Article

Good news for Caribbean connectivity: [Air Europa is resuming its direct flights to Caracas from September 1](https://www.hosteltur.com/178341_air-europa-reanuda-los-vuelos-directos-a-caracas-desde-el-1-de-septiembre.html), as reported by Hosteltur. The route, which had been suspended, returns with a Madrid departure and a technical stop in Santo Domingo, turning the Dominican capital into a natural hub for traffic between Europe and Venezuela.

This is not just another route on the map. For Dominican tourism, it means **Santo Domingo regains a key connecting role** in the region, attracting passengers who used to fly through other gateways. And that extra traffic translates into more movement at Las Américas airport, more overnight stays, and more spending in the city.

My take: the more airlines use the island as a bridge, the stronger our position in the Caribbean becomes. Air Europa's return boosts options for Venezuelan travelers heading to Europe and vice versa, and it reinforces us as a connection hub. The sector welcomes this with open arms because **every new frequency is a business opportunity** for hotels, tour operators, and local services.
