Summary: Senator Cholitín warns La Altagracia's tourism growth is outpacing planning and public investment. Traffic is the first sign and the sector still has room to act.

## Article

Rafael Duluc "Cholitín", senator for La Altagracia, has put his finger on a sore spot that many hoteliers in Punta Cana and Bávaro feel every high season: the province is growing faster than its planning. According to [Dominican Today in this report](https://dominicantoday.com/accelerated-tourist-growth-in-la-altagracia-exceeds-its-planning/), economic, tourism and population growth has moved ahead of public investment. Traffic is the first warning sign and could get worse if nobody acts.

I read this as a wake-up call that arrives on time. The sector should use it to update mobility plans and infrastructure instead of waiting for congestion to become a reputational problem. That means public investment, and also a real agreement among hoteliers, tour operators and MITUR to set priorities.

The opportunity is clear: if La Altagracia gets its growth in order, it can remain the Caribbean tourism engine without losing its edge. The senator's warning comes at the best possible moment, when there is still room to turn a traffic problem into an investment project with a future.
