Summary: Asonahores highlights that the Santo Domingo 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games will boost sports tourism and diversify the Dominican offer.

## Article

The Association of Hotels and Tourism of the Dominican Republic (Asonahores) has made it clear: the **XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026** are a golden opportunity for sports tourism. According to [Suelo Caribe](https://suelocaribe.com/protagonistas/asonahores-resalta-juegos-centroamericanos-y-del-caribe-fortalecen-turismo-deportivo/), the event, to be held from July 24 to August 8, will diversify the tourism offer and increase the country's competitiveness.

This is not just a competition. It is an injection of international visibility and a way to show that the Dominican Republic is more than sun and beach. I see a clear opportunity for hotels, tour operators and MITUR itself:

- **More overnight stays** outside high season, thanks to athletes, delegations and fans.
- **Activation of sports and transport infrastructure** that will remain as a legacy.
- **Brand positioning** as a host for major events, something few in the Caribbean can boast.

I hope the private sector and authorities seize this trampoline to attract more events and consolidate sports tourism as a real pillar. The opportunity is served.
