Summary: Manuel García Lithgow takes over the Cesac and is already coordinating airport security in the DR. Here's what it means for tourism and travelers.

## Article

The newly appointed head of the Specialized Airport and Civil Aviation Security Corps (Cesac), **Manuel García Lithgow**, is already coordinating security efforts across the country's airports, [according to Arecoa](https://www.arecoa.com/destinos/2026/08/27/nuevo-director-del-cesac-coordina-acciones-de-seguridad-en-aeropuertos-de-rd/). The move comes at a crucial time for Dominican tourism, which has posted record arrival numbers this year and needs airport security to stay one step ahead.

My read: bringing in an experienced profile points to a more agile approach at entry points, something tour operators and airlines will appreciate. This is no cosmetic change, it's a signal that authorities understand security isn't an expense, it's part of the tourism product.

For travelers, this means smoother processes and shorter waiting times. For industry pros, it's an invitation to work closer with Cesac. Hopefully the coordination also reaches the cruise sector.
