Summary: Tourism Minister David Collado completed the refurbishment of the Columbus Alcázar Museum and launched a 2,000 LED lamps lighting project for the Colonial City.

## Article

**Tourism Minister David Collado** handed over the completed infrastructure recovery of the Columbus Alcázar Museum and simultaneously kicked off the public lighting project in the [Colonial City](https://infoturdominicano.com/rd/min-collado-termina-remozamiento-del-alcazar-de-colon-e-inicia-iluminacion-ciudad-colonial-con-dos-mil-lamparas/). The operation includes **2,000 LED lamps** that will transform the look of Santo Domingo's historic center.

This is more than a facelift: it has **direct impact on the tourist experience** and safety. A well-lit nighttime walk invites longer stays and more spending at nearby restaurants and bars. The Alcázar, as a key colonial heritage site, gains scenic value that tour operators can sell as a standalone attraction.

My read: Collado shows that **MITUR does not neglect cultural products** while pushing arrival numbers. The Colonial City, with its museums, plazas and now lighting, positions itself as a city destination competing with sun and beach. Anyone investing in a boutique hotel or a terrace restaurant in the area will thank him.
