## Article

The Dominican Association of Health Tourism (ADTS) once again put the country's name on an international stage. Its president, **Alejandro Cambiaso**, presented the Dominican Republic's progress in a segment that blends medicine, hospitality and tourism at the **Guatemala Health & Wellness Conference**, as reported by [Arecoa](https://www.arecoa.com/destinos/2026/10/01/adts-resalta-exito-de-rd-en-turismo-de-salud-en-guatemala-health-wellness-conference/).

Dominican health tourism leans on top-tier private hospital infrastructure, direct flights from the United States and a hotel plant that already competes on price and quality with other Caribbean destinations. That mix explains why more patients now choose Santo Domingo or Punta Cana for procedures they once resolved in Miami or Houston.

The read is clear: every international patient who lands here spends on hotel, transport, restaurants and companions. That spending stays in the provinces and feeds the fiscal chain that sustains the country. The challenge is certifying more clinics, training bilingual staff and packaging the full experience. The opportunity is already on the table.
