Summary: Dominican hotels closed the first half of 2026 with strong occupancy figures that defy seasonality. Here are the key numbers and what they mean for the industry.

## Article

The Dominican hotel industry just closed the first half of 2026 with numbers that invite optimism. According to data published by [Infotur Dominicano](https://infoturdominicano.com/rd/ocupacion-hotelera-rd-1-hoteleria-dominicana-desafia-estacionalidad-y-mantiene-altos-niveles-de-ocupacion-en-el-1s-de-2026/), occupancy levels have remained high even outside the traditional winter high season. That is no small feat for a destination that historically felt the spring and summer slump.

**Sustained occupancy** is not an isolated spike: it reflects stable air connectivity, smart promotion, and a hotel offering that has managed to retain North American and European travelers. **The Dominican Republic no longer depends solely on winter**, and that is great news.

What opportunities does this open up? For hoteliers, the ability to plan with less uncertainty. For MITUR and airlines, confirmation that market diversification works. And for investors, a clear sign that the Dominican hotel business has a solid floor. Hopefully we will see more data like this throughout the year.
