Summary: The National Tourism Award returns in 2026. I break down the details of the fifth edition and why this award matters more than ever for the Dominican sector.

## Article

The **National Tourism Award** is back for a fifth edition. As announced, the gala will take place in 2026, giving the industry another chance to celebrate excellence, innovation, and the hard work of the people driving tourism in the Dominican Republic.

According to **Arecoa**, this distinction has become the country's most important accolade for recognizing companies, hotels, and individuals who move the industry forward. And let's be honest: in a destination that leads Caribbean arrivals, having a prestigious award is not a luxury. It is a necessity to set standards and celebrate what works.

My take: the journey of this award over its five editions shows that the Dominican hotel sector needs recognition rituals that go beyond the commercial. Rewarding sustainability, hotel management, or destination promotion is a sign that the industry is maturing. And in 2026, with all the projects ahead, I think it is a smart move that **MITUR** and the organizers keep this tradition alive.
