Summary: Laser Airlines resumes its direct flights between Caracas and Santo Domingo. A connection that was cut off by the earthquakes and is now coming back strong.

## Article

Laser Airlines has announced it will resume its direct flights between **Caracas and Santo Domingo** starting September 1, as reported by [Arecoa](https://www.arecoa.com/aerolineas/2026/08/28/laser-reanuda-vuelos-directos-entre-caracas-y-santo-domingo-tras-terremotos/). The route had been suspended following the recent earthquakes that shook the region, but the Venezuelan carrier has decided to reactivate a connection that is vital for the flow of travelers and business between both countries.

For the Dominican market, this resumption is good news. **Venezuela remains an important source market** for the country, and having a direct connection from the capital makes it easier for tourists and businesspeople who traditionally choose the Dominican Caribbean to arrive. This is not just about seats, it's about a signal: air connectivity is recovering, and that is always a boost for tourism activity.

From my perspective, there is a clear opportunity here for hoteliers in the capital and the east, where the largest supply is concentrated, to start preparing specific promotions for that Venezuelan traveler who values proximity and stability. The Venezuelan market has enormous potential, and having an airline willing to bet on this route is an asset worth nurturing. Hopefully, other airlines will follow this lead.
