Porter secures financing for up to 19 Embraer E195-E2 with Brazil's support

Good news from Brazil. Porter Aviation Holdings has secured financing from Brazil's National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) to add up to 19 Embraer E195-E2 aircraft, as reported by Suelo Caribe.

These are next-generation jets, more fuel-efficient and quieter. Porter will use them to grow on medium-haul routes. My take: an airline investing like this in modern fleet is serious about expanding its network. If that means more options to the Caribbean, destinations like Punta Cana or Samaná could gain new direct connections.

For now the focus remains North America, but a development bank like BNDES backing these planes is a strong vote of confidence in Porter's model. Dominican tourism always needs more seats and frequencies. Let's hope this move eventually translates into more flights to our shores.
