Summary: The mega tourism project in Puerto Plata could create between 7,000 and 11,000 direct jobs annually, according to economic impact analysis.

## Article

**Punta Bergantín** is not just another resort: the analysis by [Dominican Today](https://dominicantoday.com/the-economic-impact-of-punta-bergantin-an-estimated-11000-direct-jobs-annually/) estimates that during construction it will generate between 6 and 9 total jobs (direct, indirect and induced) per hotel room. Once operational, the numbers jump: **between 7,000 and 11,000 direct jobs annually**.

These are numbers that change the game for **Puerto Plata**. If the highest forecast holds, we would be looking at a job volume comparable to the big poles of **Punta Cana** and **Bávaro**. The challenge now is that this impact does not remain on paper.

**My take**: this is exactly what the north coast needs to consolidate as the country's second major destination. But watch out, the promise of employment requires training and planning. We must not be caught off guard without prepared hoteliers and waiters to handle the incoming demand. The opportunity is huge, but we will only seize it if the sector gets its act together from now on.
