Summary: Punta Cana airport receives the APEX Partner Award from ACI World for its contribution to global airport security. The read: more tax revenue for the East.

## Article

The **Punta Cana airport** added another trophy to its shelf. Airports Council International (ACI World) handed it the **APEX Partner Award** for its contribution to airport security worldwide, as reported by [Arecoa](https://www.arecoa.com/aeropuertos/2026/10/06/aeropuerto-de-punta-cana-es-reconocido-por-contribuir-a-la-seguridad-aeroportuaria-a-nivel-global/). This is no display-case medal: security standards are the gateway to more routes, more airlines and more frequencies.

That is where the real business sits for the East. Every certification the airport hangs translates into steadier operations and, with them, **foreign currency and tax contributions** landing in La Altagracia and neighbouring provinces. The airport already handles most of the country's international traffic, so its performance is not a local matter.

The read is clear: the airport competes with Caribbean hubs for connectivity and operational trust, and this award gives it ammunition to keep growing. Worth watching the coming season to confirm whether the recognition turns into new routes to Europe and Latin America. The infrastructure is ready. Now it needs filling.
