## Article

The **Association of Artists and Artisans United of Puerto Plata** has set up its summer fair at **Independence Square** in the city. The opening ceremony featured a blessing by Father Osvaldo Santos Beard, parish priest of San Felipe Cathedral, and the participation of Jovanna Castellanos, as reported by [Suelo Caribe](https://suelocaribe.com/destinos/puerto-plata/artesanos-de-puerto-plata-realizan-feria-de-verano-en-plaza-independencia/).

The fair runs through **July 26** and is a golden opportunity for tourism professionals operating on the North Coast to recommend an authentic plan to their guests: local crafts, one-of-a-kind pieces, and the vibe of Puerto Plata's most iconic square.

- **Where?** Independence Square, Puerto Plata.
- **Until when?** July 26.
- **Who organizes?** The Association of Artists and Artisans United of Puerto Plata.

My take: events like this put meat on the bones of Dominican cultural tourism. It's not all sun and beach, today's traveler seeks experiences with local flavor, and the artisans of Puerto Plata are offering exactly that.
