Summary: The WTTC sets eight priorities for the future of global tourism. For the Dominican Republic, they are a useful roadmap to consolidate Caribbean leadership.

## Article

The **World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC)** has identified **eight priorities** that will shape the sector's direction in the coming years, according to [Hosteltur](https://www.hosteltur.com/179137_el-wttc-identifica-las-ocho-prioridades-que-definiran-el-futuro-de-los-viajes-y-el-turismo.html). The list covers **sustainability, digitalisation, talent, investment, resilience, public-private collaboration and traveller experience**, among other fronts.

For a destination like the **Dominican Republic**, which surpassed **11 million visitors** in 2024 and keeps breaking records, these priorities are not theory. **Punta Cana, Bávaro, Samaná and Puerto Plata** already compete with the Caribbean's biggest players and have room to rise in value through local talent training, energy efficiency in resorts and stronger air connectivity.

The reading is clear. The country that turns those eight priorities into a concrete action plan, with **MITUR, hoteliers and tour operators** pulling in the same direction, takes the best slice of the pie. The Dominican Republic starts with an advantage. Now it is about executing with judgement and keeping a finger on the traveller's pulse.
