SDQ MICE 2026 puts Santo Domingo on the events map

The Santo Domingo Hotel Association (AHSD) has set the dates for the sixth edition of SDQ MICE 2026. It will take place from September 21 to 23 at Hotel El Embajador, a Royal Hideaway Hotel, as reported by Dominican Today. The goal is to showcase what the capital can do for meetings and corporate events.
Here's my read: Santo Domingo is moving beyond beach tourism and building a real conventions hub. That's smart. It doesn't compete with Punta CanaPunta CanaThe main tourism hub of the Dominican Republic, on the eastern tip, famous for white-sand beaches, all-inclusive resorts and its own international airport., it adds to the country. Better connectivity, urban hotels and a cultural scene give it an edge for corporate gatherings. The fact that AHSD is putting together its own MICE expo shows the segment is already delivering.
Meetings tourism brings higher spend per visitor and fills rooms midweek. If this edition keeps building on past growth, expect more investment in event spaces across the city. Santo Domingo is ready to host. September is the proof.
