SDQ MICE 2026 brings 50 international buyers to Santo Domingo
The Santo Domingo Hotel Association has launched the sixth edition of SDQ MICE 2026, an event that brings 50 international buyers from 11 markets to the capital and puts more than 50 Dominican companies around the same table, according to Dominican Today.
The format is the classic MICE setup, business rounds between buyers and local suppliers, but what matters is what sits behind it: Santo Domingo wants its slice of the meetings, incentives and conferences pie that other Caribbean destinations currently split among themselves. The capital has hotel infrastructure, air connectivity and a cultural offer Punta Cana cannot replicate. That is its pitch, and with these numbers it is starting to land.
The read is clear. Every buyer who leaves Santo Domingo with a concrete proposal in hand is a contract that can come back as groups, conventions and high-value spending. MICE does not fill rooms in high season the way leisure does, but it fills the slow weeks and leaves revenue in the city, not just in the resort. That is the real opportunity for capital hotels.
