Fundación Cap Cana cleans Macao Beach and sends a message to the sector

The Fundación Cap Cana held a coastal cleanup at Macao Beach on September 18, one of the most visited beaches along the Punta Cana and Bávaro corridor. The effort, reported by Arecoa, is part of the foundation's ongoing work in the country's eastern region.

Macao Beach welcomes thousands of visitors every season, along with guests from several nearby resorts. A public beach in good condition is no small matter for hotel operations: it feeds into reviews, into the photo the tourist takes home, and into how the entire destination is perceived. Coastal cleanup should be read as part of the soft infrastructure that supports the Punta Cana brand.

The gesture matters more when measured against what other Caribbean destinations fail to sustain. Macao is free for anyone who visits, which leaves it exposed to heavy use. A private foundation covering part of that upkeep counts twice: it eases the public burden and protects the asset hotels sell. The invitation to the sector is simple. If the destination lives off the sea, treat it as part of the inventory and keep cleanups like this on the calendar, not just in a high-season photo.
