Mitur takes Punta Cana and Bayahíbe to the TTG fair in Rimini
The Ministry of Tourism (Mitur) landed at the 63rd edition of TTG Travel Experience, held from October 14 to 16 at the Rimini fairgrounds in Italy. The Dominican delegation was backed by hotel companies and tour operators specialized in the Italian market, who used the platform to strengthen commercial ties and present their products to travel agents, tour operators and international buyers. The event brought together representatives from 70 foreign destinations and, in its 2025 edition, recorded 72,700 professional visitors, 2,700 exhibitors and nearly 1,000 buyers from 75 countries, with more than 19,500 business meetings.
The Dominican presence at TTG is part of a broader strategy to consolidate the country's positioning in Italy and expand marketing opportunities for its destinations, resorts, cultural experiences and luxury, nature, adventure and rest tourism proposals. The support of hotel chains and receptive operators made it possible to present a diversified offer ranging from the large resorts of Bayahíbe, Punta Cana and Bávaro to experiences linked to culture, gastronomy and nature in other parts of the territory. The Italian market is relevant for the Dominican Republic's European diversification, and this fair connects directly with the professionals who design and market travel to the Caribbean.
Participation in TTG also serves to learn about the trends that will mark the next tourism season and to strengthen the relationship between Mitur and the companies working to attract more European visitors. The event, according to information published by Arecoa, brings together official tourism bodies, hotel chains, operators, airlines, technology companies and buyers from numerous international markets.
The reading for the sector is clear: Italy is a long-haul market with high purchasing power and a strong travel culture, and continued presence at fairs like TTG helps Dominican hotels avoid depending only on traditional markets. For hoteliers in Punta Cana and Bayahíbe, this type of professional event is an opportunity to negotiate directly with Italian tour operators and adjust the offer to a traveler seeking experiences beyond all-inclusive. It is worth watching how this fair presence translates into concrete bookings for the high season and whether Mitur maintains its commitment to the Italian market in the coming months.
