Puerto Plata's cable car is no longer just a viewpoint
Presidency Minister José Ignacio Paliza led the start of the full modernization of the Puerto Plata Cable Car. The project renews an attraction with more than five decades of service and reshapes it as a Tourist Cable Transport System, as reported by Suelo Caribe.
The shift is not cosmetic. Moving from viewpoint cable car to cable transport system opens the door to longer visits, bundled packages with the historic centre and the malecón, and one more reason for the cruise passenger docking in Puerto Plata to head into town instead of staying at the terminal. The works are being handled by a company the release does not yet name, but the political signal is clear.
- For tour operators: routes linking Loma Isabel de Torres with the urban core.
- For local hotels: a fresh hook for two-night stays.
- For the destination: an asset that no longer leans on cruise alone.
The real challenge is making operations match the construction: frequencies, integrated fares and signage a tourist can follow without a guide. Puerto Plata has the piece, now it has to make it pay.
