Puerto Plata to get a new cruise terminal
Presidency Minister José Ignacio Paliza, together with the Executive Unit for the Readaptation of Neighborhoods and Environments (URBE), is moving forward with an urban transformation project that will turn the current cruise ship departure zone into a modern terminal for Puerto Plata. Dominican Today reports a direct intervention on the port area.
For Puerto Plata, this is more than a construction job. The province regains a central spot on the Caribbean cruise map, and every additional berth translates into port fees, local spending and shore excursions that feed tour operators. Cruise tourism leaves money on shore when the infrastructure is there to receive it.
The read is straightforward. If the terminal is built with discipline and connects with the historic center and inland routes, Puerto Plata adds a real economic lever. Worth watching the timeline and the final design.
