The Ministry of Tourism has set its sights on France to fill Samana with travelers this summer. According to the official MITUR news piece, the promotion was done directly with French tour operators, showcasing the peninsula’s authentic side: nature, culture and the famous whale watching.

It makes sense. Samana needs to diversify beyond American and Canadian visitors, and the French traveler is a perfect fit: they look for experiences, not just sun and sand. In my view, this MITUR bet gives the province its own identity compared to the massive Punta Cana resorts.
