Punta Bergantín finally pushes Puerto Plata forward

The Punta Bergantín trust unveiled two new residential projects, Villas Hacienda Serena and Velavento Apartments, to join the hotel offering and relaunch tourism on the north coast. The event included the Tourism Minister, a clear sign the project is a priority. According to Suelo Caribe, the goal is to boost tourism development in the area.
The interesting part isn't just the construction, it's the model: a public-private trust mixing hotels, residential, and amenities. That's what Puerto Plata was missing, a comprehensive plan not depending on a single player. But I won't settle for mockup projects: the real challenge is executing on time and attracting serious hotel investment, not just condo buyers.
My take: the north coast has huge potential and Punta Bergantín can be its game-changer, but MITUR needs to back it with infrastructure and air connectivity. Done right, Puerto Plata could return to the Caribbean's first division.
