Dominican tourism tops eight million visitors in 2026
Dominican tourism just crossed a figure that is not symbolic, it is structural. More than eight million visitors have arrived in the country so far this year, according to Tourism Minister David Collado. In August alone, 856,858 people entered, a 6.2% increase over the same month last year.
The number does not live only in the airports of Punta Cana or Las Américas. Every visitor who enters moves transport, food, crafts, fuel, hotel payroll and spending in provinces that rarely make headlines. It is national output in the most literal sense: foreign currency coming in, taxes collected and jobs sustained outside Santo Domingo.
