Collado sets date for El Faro Beach reopening in San Pedro
Tourism Minister David Collado has announced the completion of the El Faro Beach redevelopment project in San Pedro de Macorís. The official inauguration will take place this Friday, with the presence of the President of the Republic, as reported by Dominican Today.
This is not just a spruced-up beach, it gives San Pedro a new tourism lung. A coastline that has historically stayed off the big-resort radar now gets a renewed public space, with potential to attract both locals and weekend travelers from Santo Domingo.
In my view, this kind of intervention is what truly decentralizes tourism. Punta Cana leads the way, but if we want visitors to explore beyond the all-inclusive, we need more projects like this. Hopefully it comes with beach cleanups and basic services, otherwise the effort falls short.
