Wingo and Flair Airlines add routes from Puerto Plata
Gregorio Luperón airport (POP) will expand its international connectivity during the 2026-2027 winter season with new direct flights to Colombia and Canada, according to Dominican Today. Wingo and Flair Airlines will operate these routes from the main airport on the Dominican north coast, managed by Aerodom.
The news confirms what the sector has been asking for on the north coast for years, more international seats that do not depend solely on Punta Cana. The Colombian connection opens the door to South American travelers looking for beach, golf and mountains without long layovers. The Canadian route strengthens the source market that already fills hotels in Puerto Plata every winter.
Aerodom has not detailed frequencies or fares, but the move fits the strategy of spreading air traffic beyond the east of the country. For hoteliers, tour operators and MITUR itself, every new seat at POP is revenue that stays in the province, not just in the airport.
